Who We Are

Pine Valley Binsar / Binsar Organic is our family home and working farm in Basoli Bhakuni, a small village near Binsar in Uttarakhand. Over the years, it has grown into a simple farmstay and a space where our NGO, Sahyog Charitable Trust, brings together farmers, local women, and guests who care about the Himalayan hills.

We are Kumaoni by roots and by heart. Our way of welcoming people is straightforward: warm food from the farm, clean rooms, honest conversations around the kitchen fire, and enough quiet for you to hear the forest and your own thoughts.

Our Story

Our family’s connection to this land goes back generations. These terraces were once tended by our grandparents, who grew grains, pulses, and seasonal vegetables in the traditional way. Like many Himalayan families, some of us moved to the cities for work and studies, but the pull of home never went away.

Pine Valley Binsar began with a simple decision: to return, rebuild our old house, and farm again with care. Instead of chemical inputs, we chose organic practices. Instead of opening a resort, we chose to keep it a home where a few guests at a time can stay, share meals with us, and see how life here really is.

Life on the Farm

Our farm is small but diverse. We grow traditional Himalayan crops alongside a few special medicinal varieties, and we try to let the land stay as alive as possible.

• Organic fields with seasonal vegetables, grains, and herbs, including crops like kaali haldi (black turmeric) and kaala adrak (black ginger).
• Orchards with local fruits that find their way into our pickles, chutneys, and simple desserts.
• Dairy cows that give us fresh milk, ghee, and curd for daily meals.
• A small mushroom shed and bee boxes that remind us how much we depend on quiet, unseen work in nature.

Guests are welcome to walk through the fields, help with light farm tasks if they wish, or simply sit and watch the light move across the valley. Nothing here is staged; this is how we live every day.

Sahyog Charitable Trust (Our NGO)

Sahyog Charitable Trust grew out of conversations with neighbours and friends who, like us, wanted their children to have a reason to stay connected to the hills. From Pine Valley Binsar, we run small, practical programmes that support rural livelihoods, women’s leadership, and the biodiversity that keeps these mountains alive.

Some of our ongoing efforts include helping local women form self-help groups, supporting farmers to shift towards organic practices, encouraging community seed saving, and creating small income opportunities linked to the farmstay—such as local food, craft, and guided walks.

Why We Do This

Running an organic farmstay and an NGO from the same home is not always easy, but for us it feels honest. The income from your stay helps us keep the farm organic, pay fair wages, and fund small community projects. In return, we offer you not a packaged “experience” but a place where you can slow down, eat real food, and see what shared responsibility for the land can look like.
